Church of San Pietro
Description
The Church of San Pietro is part of the Palazzo Paradisi complex, where it originally served as the private chapel. This small square-plan church was restored in 1606 to house the remains of Montalto’s first bishop, Monsignor Paolo Emilio Giovannini, and is a late 16th-century architectural gem, among the lesser-known treasures of southern Marche. The interior is covered by a brick barrel vault from which rises a hemispherical dome on a circular drum. Today, it hosts small concerts, art installations, and civil ceremonies. It overlooks one of the most panoramic terraces in Montalto: the Belvedere.
